Clemson composting’s very own Ryan Poole accepted an award from the Carolina Recycling Association on April 10th. The Outstanding Composting/Organics Recycling Program of the Carolinas award is given to a school, business, or large-scale facility in either North or South Carolina – and our of all the entries, Clemson won! Clemson’s program met the criteria by including an education component in the operation, which is the Creative Inquiry. This is a unique part of the composting program because it allows the students to design their own projects and complete them through the course of the semester. This aspect of Clemson Composting played a major part in the program winning the award.
The students who participated in this semester’s CI also found out that the CI will continue into next year – they are all very excited! New and continuing projects will be headed by the students of this semester and new students will join to make teams to tackle the goals of each project. The hope is that having teams to work on certain aspects of the Composting program will allow for the projects to be bigger and better than ever before! We hope that you will keep up with the progress as it comes along!
